Your flight lands in the morning, but hotel check-in is not until the afternoon. Or you have checked out and still have half a day in Ginza before the train. Either way, you do not want to drag a suitcase along Chuo-dori.

Here are four ways to leave your bags in Ginza, and how to choose between them.

Quick answer: where to leave luggage in Ginza

1. Coin lockers at Ginza Station

Ginza Station is served by three Tokyo Metro lines: the Ginza Line (G09), the Marunouchi Line (M16) and the Hibiya Line (H09). Tokyo Metro’s official coin locker page for Ginza Station lists locker locations for each of the three lines.

The page is in Japanese, and it does not list locker sizes or how many lockers there are. In practice, that means two things:

  • Do not count on a free large locker. A locker big enough for a suitcase may already be in use when you arrive.
  • Check which line’s lockers you are near. The official page lists the locations line by line.

Coin lockers are handy for a short stop while you shop for a few hours.

2. TERMINAL GINZA in GINZA SIX

On the ground floor (1F) of GINZA SIX, the shopping complex in Ginza, TERMINAL GINZA is a counter for luggage storage and delivery as part of Japan’s “hands-free travel” services.

According to GINZA SIX, the counter is open from 10:30 to 20:30. Storage is accepted until 20:00, and bags are kept for the same day only. That makes it a good fit for a day of shopping in Ginza before an evening train or flight — but not for overnight storage.

3. ecbo cloak: book space in a shop

ecbo cloak is an online service that lets you reserve luggage space at partner shops and other businesses. Its help center is available in English.

Points from ecbo cloak’s own help pages:

  • Size: there is no size limit as long as you can carry the bag yourself, with a limit of 20 kg per item. Each location has limited space, so check before you book.
  • Booking: you can book up to three months ahead. You are charged when you make the reservation, and you can cancel free of charge until the day before.
  • Drop-off: show your reservation at the location, and the staff photograph your bags to record them.
  • Who stores it: ecbo cloak is a platform; the storage agreement is between you and the location.

Because you reserve a space, ecbo cloak is worth considering if you have a large suitcase. Search the map when you book to see which locations are available around Ginza.

4. Send your bags ahead with Yamato Hands-Free Travel

Sometimes the best answer is not to store your bags at all, but to send them on. Yamato Transport, one of Japan’s major delivery companies, runs Hands-Free Travel services for visitors, including parcel delivery, same-day delivery and temporary luggage storage.

Counters certified for hands-free travel display the Hands-Free Travel logo. Check Yamato’s English page for the counter nearest to you and for the cut-off time for same-day delivery.

This can be useful when you move from Ginza to another city. Check Yamato’s page for which destinations each counter can deliver to.

Which one should you choose?

  • A few hours of shopping with a small bag: a coin locker at Ginza Station.
  • A full day in Ginza before an evening departure: TERMINAL GINZA in GINZA SIX (same day only), or ecbo cloak.
  • A large suitcase: consider booking ecbo cloak in advance.
  • Moving on to another city: send your bags ahead with Yamato Hands-Free Travel.

And if you have not booked a hotel yet, choosing one close to a station exit makes luggage much less of a problem. See my guides to hotels near Ginza Station and where to stay near Tokyo Station. For the trip in from the airport, see getting from Narita and Haneda to central Tokyo.

Summary

  • Coin lockers are at Ginza Station for all three Tokyo Metro lines, but sizes and numbers are not listed — do not count on a large one.
  • TERMINAL GINZA (GINZA SIX, 1F) stores and delivers luggage; open 10:30–20:30, storage until 20:00, same day only.
  • ecbo cloak lets you reserve space in advance; no size limit if you can carry it, up to 20 kg per item.
  • Yamato Hands-Free Travel offers delivery and temporary storage; check the counters and destinations on its English page.

Opening hours and conditions are as published by each service as of 15 October 2026. They can change, so check the official pages before you go.
